Access to Cuttings Beach closed to the public

Ethewini Municipality has informed residents of the South Durban Basin about the construction of the 70 m tie-in to the Sea Outfall effluent pipeline at Cuttings Beach, south of Durban. The project started in response to aging infrastructure which was affecting the Southern Waste Water Treatment Works and is now in its final phase being the tie-in of the new section of the outfall pipeline.

The construction of the effluent pipeline is to replace the old section of the pipeline. Access to Cuttings Beach will be closed to the public until the construction is complete. The final construction will take place between 17 to 24 August and the beach will be opened only when it is deemed safe to do so by scientific tests.

The municipality apologises for any inconvenience caused during this period.
