WARNING: NSRI urges extreme caution as spring tides are expected over Easter weekend

NSRI, lifeguards and the emergency services are on high alert.

NSRI has warned of approaching full moon spring tide, expected over the Easter long weekend and  bathers, anglers coastal walkers and boaters along the coast are urged to take extra care.

This full moon spring tide will peak on Saturday, March 31 means that from today (Wednesday) and  gradually decrease in intensity until around April 5.

The national contact number to report a sea rescue emergency: 112 (from a cellphone) and NSRI encourages anyone going to the beach to look up the local sea rescue emergency number on the web page www.nsri.org.za  and to save both emergency numbers to their phone.
