CoastKZN is operated by the Oceanographic Research Institute (ORI). Throughout the site, the terms “we”, “us” and “our” refer to ORI. ORI offers this website, including all information and tools available from this site to you, the user, conditional upon your acceptance of all terms, conditions, policies and notices stated here.

By visiting our site and/or utilising the tools on site, you engage in our “Service” and agree to be bound by the following terms and conditions (hereafter “Terms”). These Terms apply to all users and visitors to the site. Please read these Terms carefully before accessing or using our website. By accessing or using any part of CoastKZN, you agree to be bound by these Terms. CoastKZN is presented by the ORI, in partnership with the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Economic Development, Tourism and Environmental Affairs (EDTEA) for the purpose of disseminating coastal and estuarine information for improved decision making on coastal matters and for the benefit of the general public. The host, custodian and the contributor to CoastKZN is ORI.

Intellectual Property of content on CoastKZN

  • Unless otherwise stated, ORI own the intellectual property (IP) rights to CoastKZN and the information provided therein, all IP rights are reserved.
  • RI shall own all IP developed by ORI members in the normal course and scope of their duties, that has contributed to the content of CoastKZN.
  • ORI will be guided by the provisions of the Intellectual Property Laws Amendment Act (Act No. 28 of 2013) when ORI, its members or collaborators generate IP for CoastKZN from South African public funding.

CoastKZN has taken great care to ensure that information presented on this website is accurate and up to date.
