Both Clarke Bay and Willard beaches have been temporarily closed because of potential shark activity. The closure of the beaches by KwaDukuza municipality follows on advice of the KZN Sharks Board, that warned of potential shark activity following the washing ashore of a dead whale calf earlier this week.
It washed ashore at Salmon Bay on Tuesday and was removed from the beach the next day. The carcass was dumped at a KwaDukuza landfill site.
Meanwhile, the Sharks Board is patrolling waters.
Beaches are expected to reopen tomorrow (Friday).
