At 08h37, Tuesday, 25th February, NSRI St Lucia duty crew were activated following a request for assistance from the 4 local crew of a fishing ski-boat reporting to be in difficulties approximately 12 nautical miles North of Cape Vidal.

Our duty crew were mobilized and launched our sea rescue craft Wild Coast Sun Rescuer. On arrival on the scene we found that the casualty boat had complete engine failure. A tow line was rigged and we towed the casualty boat to Cape Vidal taking it through the surf and beaching without incident.  The boat was not damaged and no injuries were sustained.

Ezemvelo Wildlife rangers assisted in recovering the vessel ashore from the shallow surf on the beach and loading the boat to the fishermen’s trailer and are thanked for their assistance.

NSRI returned to base at St Lucia and the operation completed at 14h30.
