The main species causing back pain and screaming drags are giant sandy, raggies and honeycombs. These are extremely strong and hard-fighting fish, so ensure to bring your A game to avoid disappointment. Rigging up a mackerel or bonito bait on a 9/0 or 10/0 circle hook and a trace will be the best bet.
There have also been some decent edibles caught along most of the north coast, with kingfish and stumpies making up the bulk of the catches. The kingfish have been caught using mainly lures and plugs, while the stumpies have fallen for chokka and/or prawn baits.
