High swells lead to beach closure

“ Currently there are five-metre swells along the Transkei coast and these are expected to come through overnight. “

All beaches from Isipingo to Umkomaas are closed for bathing due to rough seas and the removal of the shark nets.

This morning (Thursday, 24 August) there was a Weather Service warning about six-metre swells for this afternoon from PE to Durban.

Acting Amanzimtoti beach manager, Jace Govender said there are currently five-metre swells along the Transkei coast and these are expected to come through overnight.
