Fisherman arrested for poaching

(Mid South Coast Rising Sun)

A fisherman was arrested for exceeding the bag limit of shad, at the Nkomba Beach in Pennington on January 8. Sources claim that some of the shad were undersized. The fisherman’s rods were also confiscated by the police.

Scottburgh SAPS members arrested the man for being in possession of four extra shad. He was charged under the Sea Fisheries Act and was issued with a summons to appear in court.

All anglers must be in possession of valid fishing permits and bait licences, and are urged to comply with the provisions of the Sea Fisheries Act and the daily bag limits,” said police spokesperson, Captain Adam Francis.
