The first #CleanBlueLagoon clean-up scheduled for Saturday, 16 January has been cancelled. Organisers of the clean-ups, Janet Simpkins and Dominic Naidoo made the announcement on the group’s Facebook page.
“The clean-ups normally coincide with the Beachwood Mangroves Nature Reserve’s open day which is the third Saturday of every month. Sadly we are unable to host our monthly clean-up this month as the open day was cancelled. We have already set out our dates for February and the rest of the year. I encourage volunteers keen on joining us for the clean-ups to check out our Facebook page as we update it regularly,” Simpkins said.
The Virginia resident also explained what the group is all about.
“#CleanBlueLagoon is a group of volunteers dedicated to cleaning up and maintaining not only the Blue Lagoon and Beachwood Mangrove areas but all areas of Durban that need improving,” she said.
