Early bird Amanzimtoti avian-spotters rewarded with great sightings

Holly Konig (South Coast Sun)

The early bird caught more than the worm when eager birders set off at the crack of dawn to admire the birdlife of the area on Saturday, 25 August.

Birders set off on what is likely to be part of the prospective Sapphire Coast Birding Route at the Amanzimtoti Sports Centre’s trails. The great turnout and beautiful weather, together with the walk being guided by expert Dave Rimmer, resulted in the morning being deemed a success.

“There was a great turnout at the birding walk at Amanzimtoti Sports Centre, with 32 people taking part. More than 60 species were recorded during the walk. Thank you to Dave Rimmer for leading the walk. Well done to all those who have done so much work to get the trails into the great condition they are in,” read a post shared on the Sapphire Coast Birding Facebook page.
