Clean Surf Project cleans up Umbogintwini Beach

Bianca Lalbahadur (South Coast Sun)

Clean Surf Project ventured onto Umbogintwini Beach for another successful clean-up, recently.  Many thanks to SW Collectors, Durban Bay Clean Up, Saint Martin Diocesan Home for Children, Giselle’s Kitchen, eThekweni Beach management and beach cleansing for the continued support and all volunteers.

A total of 365kgs of recyclable waste was collected.

“The focus is to reduce the amount of litter being taken to landfill sites, when and where possible,” said the organisation’s Romy Wenzel.  While the educational school programs and beach clean ups have come to a standstill due to Covid-19, we encourage each and everyone to do their part as recycling starts at home, many hands make light work.  We encourage each and every one to adhere to current lockdown regulations by wearing a mask, ensuring social distancing as well as washing hands regularly.”
