Several people had to be rescued in three separate incidents on Tuesday, 3 November.
“Two bathers, one on a body board and one without a body board, were swimming in a non-bathing area and were caught by the rift. Lifeguards in training with professional lifeguards launched a boat and rescued both bathers. Sea conditions were very deceiving with a lot of backwash.
The second rescue occurred when two bathers got themselves in trouble at Amanzimtoti Main Beach. Lifeguards responded and rescued both of them. Five people washed out next to rocks at Baggies Beach and they has to be rescued as well,” said communications officer of eThekwini Municipality, Sane Shandu.
