After teetering on the brink of collapse for a number of months, and being in a state of disrepair for some three years, the beach showers at Alkantstrand have finally collapsed. This as extensive refurbishment to the lifeguard building and ablution facility is finally complete.
According to Ward Councillor Christo Botha, the structure will be attended to by the City of uMhlathuze Department of Infrastructure. The process is still in the early stages of being dealt with by the municipality, and there is no time frame as yet as to when the new structure will be completed.
This comes as the beach’s lifeguard building and ablution facility are completed following extensive restoration.
