Hippos welcome tourists to St Lucia

Not one, not two, but four hippos were seen at the entrance to St Lucia over the long weekend, in time to welcome tourists back to the coastal holiday town.

While it is not uncommon to see hippos grazing along St Lucia’s grass verges at night, it is usually one or two, not a larger group as was the case on Sunday night, which was caught on camera by personnel from the Elephant Coast Guesthouse.

Along with the tourism industry, St Lucia reopened for business in accordance with the latest lockdown regulations. Businesses in St Lucia breathed a collective sigh of relief as employees in the industry have been among the hardest hit over the past few months.
