Heaps of plastic collected at Pipeline Beach

Members of Clean Surf Project ventured into Pipeline Beach to collect almost 50 kgs of plastic most of which was buried underneath the sand on Saturday, 8 August. CSP’s Romy Wenzel said volunteers picked up several items including ear buds, sucker sticks, plastic bottles, containers, helmets, fishing line and hooks.

“Many, many thanks to the Geldenhuys Family as well as Simphiwe Shezi for their ongoing support and for making a positive difference. While the clean up crew collected litter along the treasured Sapphire Coastline, it was most enjoyable to watch whales splashing out at sea, nature at its best. Thumbs up to members from eThekwini Municipality Beach Cleansing for assisting with the collection of bin bags on completion of the clean up,” she said.
